For this post I will be covering a blog site that is very popular in the skateboarding community, Transworld Skateboarding. There are only a small number of skateboard sites on the web. They serve to consistently be updated with the latest news in the world of professional and amateur skateboarding. These sites originally started out as magazine companies in the 1990’s, but over the past decade, have transformed into websites that share videos, latest news and product promotion for skateboarders.
I chose to review Transworld Skateboarding because in my opinion they have been the leader in the industry. Their website includes a homepage with featured articles, news stories, photos and videos. It is like the umbrella for the latest happenings. If you go to the top of the page you will see a drop down bar menu for photos, video, their merchandise store and their magazine subscription. If you look all the way right on the menu you will see a “How to” section for skateboard trick tutorials all hosted by professional skateboarders. Tutorials range from beginner techniques all the way to advanced tricks over huge obstacles like stair sets, rails and gaps.
Transworld Skateboarding really knows what their target audience wants. In my opinion, they exceed the majority’s expectations because of how in-depth they go to find the latest new in skateboarding. When I created my blog site, Transworld Skateboarding was definitely an inspiration for how I wanted to reach my audience. I don’t think my blog will compete with a credible skateboarding news outlet like this but I plan to replicate the “How to” concept of their site. I would recommend Transworld Skateboarding to anyone who is interested who is looking for a way to get plugged in with the skateboarding community.
